La Ferrière-sur-Risle is a French municipality with 221 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Eure in the region of Normandy . It belongs to the municipal association Pays de Conches . La Ferrière-sur-Risle has the highest population density of the communes in the canton of Conches-en-Ouche and the second highest population density of the communes in the entire department.

La Ferrière-sur-Risle is located in northern France in the Pays d'Ouche , 74 kilometers northeast of Le Havre and 26 kilometers southwest of Évreux , the capital of the Eure department. Neighboring municipalities of La Ferrière-sur-Risle are Mesnil-en-Ouche in the northwest, Collandres-Quincarnon in the northeast, Sébécourt in the east and La Vieille-Lyre with Champignolles in the southwest. The municipality covers 24 hectares, the mean height is 140 meters above sea ​​level , the Mairie stands at a height of 126 meters.

The Risle separates La Ferrière-sur-Risle and Ajou (district of Mesnil-en-Ouche). The river sometimes overflows and floods the streets. After thunderstorms, even the church used to be flooded. On the border of the municipality there are traces of an ancient path that was connected to the Roman road from Brionne (Breviodurum) to Dreux (Durocasses) . Since the Gallo-Roman times (52 v. Chr. To 486 n. Chr.) Was obtained in the municipality iron ore in open pit promoted. The name of the community also refers to iron ore mining. It was first mentioned in a document in the 11th century. Ferrière developed from the Latin word ferraria , which means 'belonging to iron'. The iron trade made the community grow. 1793 received La Ferrière-sur-Risle under the name La Ferrière sur Rille the status of a municipality and 1801 through the administrative reform under Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) under the name La Ferrières-sur-Rille the right to local self-government .

During the Franco-Prussian War (1870–1871), La Ferrière-sur-Risle was occupied by Prussian troops in November 1870.

La Ferrière-sur-Risle is represented with two flowers in the Conseil national des villes et villages fleuris ('National Council of Flowered Cities and Villages'). The linden trees were felled in 1999 and replanted.

The Roman Catholic Community des Bois et des Plaines belongs to the parish Pays de Conches of the diocese of Évreux . The 13th century church of Saint-Georges was classified as a Monument historique ('historical monument') in 1913 . The altarpiece from the 17th century with three statues was classified as a monument historique in 1907. Further sculptures were listed as a historical monument in 1963. These include a statue of Mary with the child from the 14th century, a Pietà from the 16th century and a statue of the Archangel Michael from the 17th century. One of the church bells was cast in 1703 by the bell caster Laurent Aubert from Lisieux and classified as a historical monument in 1981. The glass artist François Décorchemont designed one of the church windows in 1960.

A house and the market hall from the 16th century were entered in the supplementary directory of the Monuments historiques in 1926.

One of the La Ferrière-sur-Risle tanneries operated well into the 20th century. Today the building belongs to the Communauté de communes du Pays de Conches. It has been used for cultural events since 2010.
