La Vieille-Lyre is a French municipality with 651 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Eure in the region of Normandy . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Bernay and the Canton of Breteuil . The inhabitants are called Lyrois .
It was created as the Commune nouvelle of the same name with effect from January 1, 2019 through the amalgamation of the previous municipalities of La Vieille-Lyre and Champignolles , which have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in La Vieille-Lyre .

La Vieille-Lyre is located about 31 kilometers west-southwest of Évreux on the Risle . La Vieille-Lyre is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Mesnil-en-Ouche in the north and north-west, La Ferrière-sur-Risle and Le Fidelaire in the north-east, Les Baux-de-Breteuil in the south-east, Neaufles-Auvergny in the south, and La Neuve-Lyre in the south and south-west, Bois-Normand-près-Lyre in the west and south-west and Bois-Anzeray in the west and north-west.
