Marbois is a French commune with 1,387 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Eure in the region of Normandy . It belongs to the Arrondissement Bernay as well as to the cantons of Breteuil and Canton Verneuil-sur-Avre and is a member of the Interco Normandie Sud Eure municipal association .

geography

Marbois is located about 25 kilometers south-southwest of Évreux on the Iton . Marbois is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Nagel-Séez-Mesnil and Nogent-le-Sec in the north, Mesnils-sur-Iton in the south and east, Breteuil in the west and south-west and Beaubray in the west and north-west.

history

On January 1, 2016, the previously independent municipalities of Chanteloup , Le Chesne , Les Essarts and Saint-Denis-du-Béhélan were merged to form the new municipality ( commune nouvelle ) Marbois. The seat of this newly created regional authority is in the district of Le Chesne.
