La Trinité-de-Réville is located in northern France in the Pays d'Ouche in the southwest corner of the Eure department at the confluence of the Charentonne and Guiel , 64 kilometers southeast of Le Havre , 14.2 kilometers southwest of Bernay , the seat of the sub-prefecture of the arrondissement , and 4.4 kilometers southwest of Broglie , the capital of the Canton de Broglie municipal association , at an average altitude of 176 meters above sea ​​level . history

The ancient route from Bernay to Saint-Evroult-Notre-Dame-du-Bois ran through the municipality of La Trinité-de-Réville. According to Auguste Le Prévost , undated cinder and remains of buildings were also found, which is why there must have been forges in the place. The village was first mentioned in a document as Roilvilla in 1050 . Ernest Nègre lists the place name as "non-Roman" and quotes Marie-Thérèse Morlet. According to Morlet, the place name is made up of the Germanic name Rodilo and Villa and therefore meant 'Rodilo's estate'.

Originally the village was called Reville. In 1793 Reville received the status of a municipality in the course of the French Revolution (1789-1799) and in 1801 the right to local self-government through the administrative reform under Napoleon Bonaparte . In 1842 the former municipality of La Trinité-Menil-Josselin was incorporated and the place name was changed to La Trinité-de-Réville.

During the Franco-Prussian War (1870–1871), the Maréchal des logis-Chef der Gendarmerie nationale was shot dead on January 20, 1871 by German soldiers from an advance guard near the church .
