army
In the army , there are three groups of officers of combat troops, the experts and the "Corps of Engineering and Management" (Corps technique et administratif - CTA). In the case of male officers, the traditional "mon" is placed in front of the rank in the salutation. However, this only indirectly refers to the term “my” (as it would be translated), as it is a corruption of “monsieur”. For this reason it is not used by female officers. These are addressed directly with their rank. For some officers, such as the Commissaires de l'Armée de terre (Corps de commissaires de l'Armée de terre), or the military pastors, however, the salutation "Monsieur / Madame" is used. According to the Règlement de discipline générale, subordinates are only addressed with their rank (and name). The hunters on foot ( Chasseurs à pied ) and the mountain hunters ( Chasseurs alpins ) have blue epaulets because they wear a blue uniform (tenue bleue).
The rank badges of the armies blindée et cavalerie (tanks and cavalry) are, in contrast to the other branches of arms, the same as those of the hunter troops.
Generals - Officiers généraux
The name General is derived from the term Capitaine général , the captain who was in command of the entire army.
The generals are divided into two divisions:
- The first section contains the generals serving in the troops, the delegated generals and the inactive generals.
- The second section contains all the generals who are at the disposal of the Ministry of Defense.
