La Poterie-Mathieu is located about 32 kilometers north-northwest of Bernay in the Lieuvin . The Paquine limits the community to the south. La Poterie-Mathieu is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Siméon in the north and north-west, La Noë-Poulain in the north, Saint-Étienne-l'Allier in the east and north-east, Saint-Georges-du-Vièvre in the south-east, and Lieurey in the south as well Épaignes to the west.
