Gauciel is a commune with 861 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Eure in the region Normandy (before 2016 Haute-Normandie ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Évreux and the canton of Évreux-3 (until 2015 Évreux-Est ). The inhabitants are called Gauciélois .

Gauciel is located in northern France in the east of the Eure department, about ten kilometers east-northeast of the city center of Évreux . Gauciel is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Sassey in the north, Fontaine-sous-Jouy in the northeast, Jouy-sur-Eure in the east, Miserey in the south and southeast and Huest in the west.
The air force base 105 ( Base aeriénne 105 Évreux-Fauville ) is located in the municipality .
