history
In 1189, Philip II of France and Richard the Lionheart signed an armistice here, but they did not keep it.
During the Second World War (1939-1945) a member of the Resistance found a radio station of an Allied aircraft during Operation Overlord and hid it in the bell tower of the church of Nonancourt. When the Wehrmacht discovered the radio station on August 14, 1944, they arrested the two clergymen of the town and the mayor and took them to Dreux . The three prisoners were released soon afterwards because the German guards fled.
