Christian Stöckl (born December 2, 1957 in Schwarzach im Pongau ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and teacher. Stöckl was the second deputy governor in Salzburg from 2013 and has been the first deputy governor since 2018 .

education and profession

Josef and Barbara Stöckl's son grew up in Goldegg im Pongau . After graduating from high school in 1977, he studied mathematics and geography at the University of Salzburg and graduated in 1981. In 1984 he received his doctorate in natural sciences, and in 1991 he acquired the qualification to teach computer science.
From 1981 to 2008 Stöckl was a teacher of mathematics, geography and computer science at the Ursulines' private high school in Salzburg. From 2008 to 2009 he taught at the Bundesgymnasium and Bundesrealgymnasium Hallein .

Political career

Stöckl has been involved in the ÖVP Hallein since the late 1980s and has been a city councilor since 1994. In 1999 he was elected mayor of Hallein in the direct mayor election, re-elected in 2004 with 67.49% and most recently in 2009 with 73.3%. From 2005 to 2014 Stöckl also acted as regional chairman of the ÖAAB . In the Salzburg People's Party he has been deputy chairman since 2008. On April 22, 2009 he was sworn in as a member of the Salzburg state parliament. There he took over the function of the area spokesman for labor market, sport and intercultural coexistence within the ÖVP state parliament club. After the state elections in Salzburg in 2013 , he became the second deputy governor and has worked in the regional government of Haslauer jun. I or since June 2018 in the state government Haslauer jun. II , as the first deputy governor of the financial affairs, healthcare and hospital affairs departments . When he took office as a member of the government, his term of office as Mayor of Hallein also ended. His successor was Gerhard Anzengruber (ÖVP).

Private

Stöckl has been married since 1981 and has a daughter and a son.
