Life

Christian Teller came from a long-established family of blacksmiths and was the son of the car workshop owner Curt Teller (1895–1968) at Bahnhofstrasse 1 in Johanngeorgenstadt. In the early 1960s, he and his younger brother Kurti (1935–1987) took over their father's workshop, which had been relocated to Eibenstocker Straße 100 in the new town of Johanngeorgenstadt in 1957 after the old town was demolished. In his early youth he began to be interested in local history in his spare time. He became a local writer in his hometown and was active, among other things, in the Active for Monument Preservation and in the research group “Kursächsische Postmeilensäulen”. Some of his greatest merits are the detailed research into the history of the Erzgebirge Schwibbogen , the documentation of the development of his hometown since the 1950s and the reconstruction of the horse peg in Johanngeorgenstadt, which was torn down by the SDAG Wismut after the Second World War, on his initiative . After 1990 he took over the chairmanship of the newly founded Erzgebirgszweigverein . He was also a member of the local mountain band as a flautist.

His son Frank Teller (1965-2016) was also active as a homeland researcher in Johanngeorgenstadt.
