Christian "Kiki" Vander (born October 24, 1980 in Willich ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper and current coach .
Career
Vander started playing football at Blau-Weiß Anrath (today's Viktoria Anrath) when he was four. Initially used as a field player, he was later retrained as a goalkeeper by his father and coach. Via 1. FC Viersen , he moved to the youth department of KFC Uerdingen 05 in 1996 . From 2000 to 2005 he played at VfL Bochum , where he played 19 Bundesliga games in five years, but was unable to prevail against the regular goalkeeper Rein van Duijnhoven .
In 2005 he was loaned for one year by VfL Bochum to Werder Bremen , where he signed a permanent contract before the 2006/07 season, which was extended to 2010 in May 2008. On April 21, 2010 it was announced that Vander had renewed his expiring contract by two years until 2012.
From the 2007/08 season, Vander was number 2 behind Tim Wiese in the Werder Bremen goal after Andreas Reinke's contract had not been extended.
However, he lost this place to Sebastian Mielitz , which is why he made his debut on August 19, 2010 in the second team of Werder, in which he then played predominantly.
After the 2012/13 season, Vander ended his active career and moved to the Werder Bremen coaching staff. He has been the goalkeeping coach at Werder Bremen since October 25, 2014.
