Athletic career

Christian Zwedorn began his motorsport career in April 1988 on his Honda CBR 500 F (500 cm³) in the Honda Cup on the Salzburgring . The following year he won the Honda Cup in the junior and overall rankings. Due to the success, Zwedorn received a professional contract in the Eagle Racing Team in 1990 .

In Walter Adler's team, Zwedorn had two mechanics and two Honda RC30 (750 cm³) superbikes . Zwedorn won the first race in Landshaag in the Superbike class with the best time of the day. In the 1990 Superbike World Championship race at the Österreichring , he finished 15th and thus won his first and only World Championship point. He drove a total of three races this season. After the SUPERBIKE World Championship run in Sportsland SUGO / Japan, he started as the overall leader of the national championship. Ten days before the last state championship run, Zwedorn fell with a Honda NX 250 Dominator and suffered a broken pelvis. The injury prevented participation in the final run. Nevertheless, it was enough to become Vice State Champion in the Superbike class.

Fully recovered in 1991, Zwedorn won the Austrian Superbike Championship. In the following year he moved to the European championship in the supersport class (600 cm³). The Zwedorn Racing Team was founded for this purpose . On his Honda CBR 600 F , he finished 7th overall. Zwedorn was more successful nationally and became national champion. In 1993 he achieved 6th place overall in the European championship of the supersport class and in the national Austrian he became vice-champion.

In 1994 Zwedorn started for the first time at Daytona International Speedway (Florida / USA) in the races for the AMA Superbike Championship , where he finished 10th. Nationally Christian Zwedorn won all races and secured the third national championship title. In 1994, he was runner-up in the European Supersport class races . In 1995 Zwedorn started again in Daytona, where he finished 5th in the AMA Supersport 600 race. The focus for 1995 was the Thunderbike Trophy (unofficial 600cc World Championship), which was held as part of the European MotoGP and started at the Circuito de Jerez (Spain). Zwedorn meanwhile started for the Castrol Honda Austria team .

In 1996 he finished 7th in the AMA Supersport 600 class. At the following first championship run in Landshaag, Zwedorn broke his pelvis for the second time in his career and had to take a longer break. The following year he took part in the Supersport 600 World Series. After a good start to the season in Misano (I), there was a fall in the second run in Donington Park (GB) where Zwedorn broke his heel bone. Thanks to a special carbon boot, he drove on without a break from racing. In the fifth race at Brands Hatch (GB) the driver broke his pelvis again and had to end his career in November 1997.
