He came from the Seebach house . Seebach's father was a forester and later head of the Göttingen Forestry Office . Christian von Seebach himself studied forest sciences at the University of Göttingen . In 1813 he interrupted his studies in order to take part in the wars of liberation as a volunteer in Carl von Beaulieu-Marconnay's free corps . He took part in the Battle of Waterloo and the entry of coalition troops into Paris.

After the war he continued his studies. In 1821 he was commissioned to manage the Westerhof Forest Inspectorate . In 1825 he became head of the Uslar inspection . Seebach is an important forest reformer and had a great influence on forestry in the Kingdom of Hanover . He successfully campaigned for the abolition of forest grazing rights and carried out extensive reforestation. In his area in the Solling he introduced the modified beech forest operation as a new type of operation and was not only able to save the last beech forests of the Solling, but also achieve an increase in the yields of the beech stocks.

In 1846 Seebach was appointed head forester . Since he did not want to give up his sphere of activity in Solling, the ministry created a special forestry office for his area and also assigned him the business of Inspection Dassel .

Seebach died two years after his 50th service anniversary and was buried in the forest north of Uslar . The tomb is still there today.
