Christiane Knacke (born April 17, 1962 in Berlin , married Christiane Driesener , later Christiane Sommer ) is a former German swimmer who competed for the GDR . Knacke is a recognized doping victim of state-prescribed doping in GDR competitive sports .

Career

Christiane Knacke from SC Dynamo Berlin took second place behind her club mate Andrea Pollack at the GDR championships in 1977 over 100 meters butterfly . Also at the European Swimming Championships in 1977 , she finished second behind Andrea Pollack. A week after the end of the European championships, a swimming match between the GDR team and the US team took place in the Friesenstadion. As part of this international competition, Christiane Knacke was the first woman to swim the 100 meter butterfly under a minute on August 28, 1977, setting a new world record with 59.78 seconds .

At the GDR championships in 1978 Andrea Pollack again won ahead of Christiane Knacke. Christiane Knacke and Petra Thümer were canceled shortly before the World Swimming Championships in 1978 , according to Knacke, a training check was positive. At the GDR championships in 1980 Knacke took third place behind Andrea Pollack and Caren Metschuck . At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow , Caren Metschuck won over 100 meters, ahead of Pollack and Knacke.

Christiane Knacke's first marriage was to an FDJ functionary. After dissolution (marriage) , she married an Austrian trade union official in Berlin-Friedrichshain in 1988 and moved to Vienna, where she has lived and worked ever since. In 1998, she testified as a prosecution witness against her former coach, who was later fined for administering doping substances to minors.
