Segundo Villadóniga , also known as Segundo Villadónica , (born November 6, 1915 in Montevideo , † October 26, 2006 ) was a Uruguayan football player .

Career

society

Offensive player Villadóniga, who was used in the position of the left half-forward , joined the Club Atlético Peñarol in 1935 . There he was initially a member of the squad in the Primera División until 1938 . In 1935 , 1936 , 1937 and 1938 his club won the Uruguayan Championship. In 1936 he was behind Severino Varela (13 goals) and tied with Adelaido Camaití with twelve goals scored the second most successful goalscorer of the club. In that year and the following year he was a member of the core team, but had to share working times with Luis Matta in 1937 . Luciano Álvarez reports that Villadóniga was one of the more common players at the time who did not wear football boots on the field. Instead, he resorted to higher pointed shoes ( zapatillas de capellada alta ), which were similar to those used in basketball. These were soled with stoppers / corks ( tapones ) or wedge cushions / crossbars ( travesaños ) made of leather. He later worked for Vasco da Gama . From there he moved to Palmeiras São Paulo in 1942 . He stayed with the São Paulo club until 1946, scoring 50 goals in 134 missions during that time. His club won in 1942 and 1944 at the Campeonato Paulista called State Championship of São Paulo . In 1947 he was again listed in Peñarol's ranks.

National team

Villadóniga was a member of the senior national team of Uruguay , for which he completed six international matches between September 20, 1936 and November 11, 1937. He scored three international goals. He was part of the Uruguayan squad at the 1937 South American Championship . He also took part with Uruguay in 1936 at the Copa Hector Gomez and in 1937 at the Copa Lipton .
