The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named them in 1978 after Colin Christiansen, who discovered the records left in 1939 by the Australian polar explorer Hubert Wilkins in the Walkabout Rocks in 1958 and in 1971 at Mawson Station , 1975 at Casey Station and 1977 at Davis Station had overwintered.
