Christine Arbogast (* 1965 in Stuttgart ) is a German historian , political scientist , social affairs officer in Braunschweig and former First Mayor (Deputy Mayor ) of the university city of Tübingen .

education and profession

After graduating from high school, Arbogast studied history and political science in Tübingen and Aix-en-Provence . With a doctoral thesis on the work of National Socialist party functionaries in Württemberg, she received her doctorate in history. She was a scholarship holder of the Protestant Study Foundation Villigst .

After completing her doctorate, Christine Arbogast initially worked in the fields of journalism, research and teaching, then from 1999 to 2001 head of studies at the Academy for New Media in Ludwigsburg. In the years 2001 to 2004 she managed various, also international projects at the Volkshochschule Stuttgart. During this time, she completed a part-time course in adult education, which she completed with a master's degree. From 2004 to 2012 Christine Arbogast worked as a consultant at the Baden-Württemberg state office of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in Stuttgart. The focus there were local and educational issues.

At the beginning of 2013, she worked as Head of Education, Social Affairs and Family in the city of Nürtingen . According to the presentation of the city of Tübingen's website, Arbogast dealt intensively with a strategic and conceptual realignment of administrative tasks, in addition to the usual administration, with a particular focus on demographic changes and their long-term consequences.

First mayor

Christine Arbogast has been the First Mayor of Tübingen since July 3, 2014. She was elected by the Tübingen municipal council on April 7, 2014 with 21 of 40 votes. As first alderman, Christine Arbogast was the permanent general deputy of the Mayor of Tübingen Boris Palmer .

In the city administration, Arbogast was responsible for the civil services, security and order department, the arts and culture department and the family, school, sport and social department.
