Christine Beerli-Kopp (born March 26, 1953 in Biel ; resident in Biel and Thal ) is a Swiss politician ( FDP ).

From 1980 to 1983 she was a member of the city ​​council (parliament) of Biel, from 1986 to 1991 the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern and from 1991 to 2003 the Council of States . In the Federal Council elections in 2003 she was defeated by Hans-Rudolf Merz .

Beerli is a lawyer . From 1998 she was director of the University of Technology and Architecture in Biel and from 2003 to autumn 2007 director of the department of technology and information technology at the Bern University of Applied Sciences . Since January 1, 2008, she has been one of two vice-presidents of the International Committee of the Red Cross . She holds the position of the two vice presidents, which according to the ICRC statutes is unlimited in time.

In addition, she was active as President of the Board of Trustees of Pro Juventute from 1996 to 2008 . In 2006 she took over the presidency of the Solothurn Film Festival and of the Swissmedic Institute Council .

In 2018 Beerli took part in the Bilderberg Conference .
