Christine Correa
Christine Isobel Correa (born July 8, 1955 in Bombay ) is an American jazz singer of Indian origin.
Live and act
Correa comes from a musical family; her father Micky Correa leads dance and big bands. Correa moved to Boston in 1979 to study with Ran Blake and Gerry Martin at the New England Conservatory of Music .
She mainly appears with Frank Carlberg's quintet, for example in ballet music for the New York Battery Dance Company , with which she has also performed in Poland and Finland. She has continued to work with Steve Lacy , Ran Blake, John LaPorta, and Jeanne Lee . She is adjunct professor at Columbia University and director of the Maine Jazz Camp .
Correa is married to Frank Carlberg, with whom she has two children.
Prizes and awards
Correa was artist in residence at the Sibelius Academy and received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts .
