Christine Hentschel

Christine Hentschel (* 1978 in Borna ) is a German criminologist . She is professor of criminology , in particular security and resilience, at the Department of Social Sciences at the University of Hamburg and program director of the advanced training course in criminology .

Life

Christine Hentschel studied political science , French studies and comparative religion at the University of Leipzig and at the Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris from 1998 . In 2005 she passed her master’s examination in Leipzig . The topic of the master's thesis was a comparison of the regulation of prostitution in Germany and France. Then she worked at the Leipzig Institute for African Studies. In 2010, she was with the work: "The Life of Spatial Security Durban, South Africa" doctorate . The dissertation was developed in collaboration with the Center of Criminology at the University of Cape Town .

Hentschel worked as a research assistant in a cultural and urban history research project in Berlin. She then became a substitute professor and then a professor at the University of Hamburg. As a fellow of the legal cultures project ( Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin and Humboldt University Berlin ) she worked on the project “The legal life of urban spaces” until 2012.
