Christine Kurzhals

Christine Kurzhals (born May 31, 1950 in Böhlen as Christine Mierl ; † May 4, 1998 in Leipzig ) was a German politician ( SPD ). She was a member of the German Bundestag from 1994 until her death.

Life

Kurzhals trained as a mechanical draftsman before completing a degree in chemical plant engineering at a technical college. After completing her training as a surveying technician, she worked as a chemical plant engineer and clerk for surveying technology. She also worked as a lecturer for retraining in surveying technology. In 1990 she became a lay judge at the Borna District Court.

Kurzhals did not belong to any party until 1989 and was then one of the co-founders of the SPD local association in Borna. She temporarily took over the chairmanship of the association and was also represented on the board of the sub-district, she was also a city councilor. In the 1994 federal election she was elected to the German Bundestag via the state list of Saxony, to which she belonged until her death. She was a full member of the Post and Telecommunications Committee and the Family, Seniors, Women and Youth Committee. Jens Heinzig became a member of the Bundestag as a successor .
