Christine Schürrer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Christine Schürrer (born June 30, 1976 in Hanover ) is a German citizen who murdered two Swedish children in their home in Arboga ( Sweden ) on March 17, 2008 and severely injured their mother Emma Jangestig with 15 hammer blows on the head. Jealousy is assumed to be the motive for the crime. Schürrer was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2008 for double homicide and attempted homicide. At the end of 2008, Schürrer appealed to Svea hovrätt for a new procedure. The appeal was denied in February 2009. In March 2012, Schürrer was transferred to a women's prison in Vechta, Germany, to serve the rest of her sentence. Schürrer is the seventh woman in Swedish history to be sentenced to life imprisonment. She continues to deny the crime and is continuing to seek a judicial reopening of the case, which received significant media attention.
