Kurt Hahlweg

Kurt Hahlweg (born January 25, 1947 in Bad Segeberg ) is a German psychologist and professor at the Technical University of Braunschweig .

Life

After graduating from high school on February 20, 1966, Hahlweg became a lieutenant in the reserve at the age of 21 . He then studied psychology at the University of Hamburg . At the age of 26, he went to Queen's University in Belfast to study behavioral therapy for a few months . In 1974 he became an assistant at the Max Planck Institute in Munich . Two years later, Hahlweg married.

In October 1977 he was doing his doctorate in psychology at the University of Hamburg. From July 1983 to July 1984 Hahlweg went to the Psychology and Neuropsychiatric Institute at the University of California in Los Angeles . After his return in 1984 he completed his habilitation at the University of Hamburg. Four years later, Hahlweg was appointed professor at the TU Braunschweig. In the early 1990s, he and Howard Markman developed the Partnership Learning Program (EPL) . The partnership learning program (EPL) was developed based on the American Premarital Relationship Enhancement Program by Markmann and Hallweg. Hahlweg has also provided academic support for the Australian Triple P education program since 2001.

Honors

In 2008, Hahlweg was awarded the German Psychology Prize.
