Christine Wolf

Christine Ingrid Wolf (born March 3, 1980 in Kirchheim unter Teck , Baden-Württemberg ) is a German athlete who has been taking part in competitions for Australia since 2006 .

At the age of ten years was in her left leg cancer diagnosed. Chemotherapy and related hospital stays followed over the next five years . In 1995 the leg finally had to be amputated above the knee . After attending the Atlanta Summer Paralympic Games in 1996 , she began exercising with a prosthetic limb in 1997 . In addition to running, she worked on the long jump discipline , in which she hoped to take part in the 2000 Summer Paralympics . Since there was no competition there for her classification, she was only present in Sydney as a spectator.

In 2004 she was able to take part in the Summer Paralympics in Athens for the first time . She won a silver medal in the long jump for Germany in the F42 classification. In Athens, Wolf met members of the Australian team and was invited to a three-month training visit to Canberra . In February 2005 she finally traveled to Australia. After a few weeks she decided to stay in Australia permanently. In 2006, Wolf entered athletics competitions for her new adopted home for the first time. At the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing , she won gold in the long jump for Australia in the F42 classification and bronze in the 100-meter run in the T42 classification.
