Christine Wolter (born March 30, 1939 in Königsberg (Pr) ) is a German writer .

Life

Christine Wolter is the daughter of the architect Hanns Hopp . After the escape from East Prussia in 1944, the family came to East Berlin via the Radebeul and Halle (Saale) stations in 1950 after the end of the Second World War , where Hanns Hopp helped to plan the Stalinallee . Christine Wolter studied Romance Studies at the Humboldt University from 1957 to 1961 . From 1962 to 1976 she worked as an editor at Aufbau-Verlag . During this time she began editing and translating literary texts, mainly from Italian. She has been a freelance writer since 1976. In 1978 she married an architect from Milan and moved to Italy with her son, who was born in 1970. Today she lives in Albavilla near Milan.

Christine Wolter has been publishing narrative works since the 1970s, which are primarily about female self-awareness and emancipation ; Above all, her highly autobiographically influenced novel Die Alinseglerin , which was filmed in 1987 at DEFA by Herrmann Zschoche under the title Die Alinseglerin , was a public success in both parts of Germany. In addition, this country also played an important role in her work before she moved to Italy.
