Christoph (Schleswig)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Christoph von Schleswig (* probably 1150; † 1173) was the illegitimate son of the Danish King Waldemar I and his lover Tove.

Between 1167 and 1173 he officiated as Duke of South Jutland . During this time, a battle has been narrated, which he and a certain Aósalon near Preetz against the county of Schauenburg and Holstein - represented by the Ammonider Overboden Marcrad I and the Holsteiner Bruno as guardian for the underage Count Adolf III. - has denied. In the context of a phase of weakness in the Holy Roman Empire, it is to be understood as Denmark's first attempt to expand its territory to the south. The battle ended in a draw.
