Domestically, IT and cybersecurity as well as political extremism are among Christoph Bernstiel's main topics. Since the beginning of 2019, this has included in particular the critical consideration of security issues when setting up the 5G network in Germany. His work focuses on ensuring Germany's technological sovereignty and preventing possible dependence on individual manufacturers. He is committed to the lowest possible participation of Chinese companies in the expansion of the 5G mobile network. This is to prevent possible manipulation and interference in Germany's national security.

In addition, Christoph Bernstiel is committed to all forms of extremism and politically motivated crime.

In addition to these key issues, the domestic politician also deals with counter-espionage, international police missions and the digital radio of the authorities and organizations with security tasks (BOS). When new frequencies are allocated, Bernstiel advocates that the security authorities be provided with the 450 MHz frequency instead of the energy industry.
