Christoph Gruel

Christoph Gruel , also Christoff Gruel († probably 1596 ) was a German university professor and local lawyer. He taught at the University of Greifswald and was city counsel for Greifswald .

Life

Christoph Gruel was a member of an old, from Mecklenburg originating patrician family . His father Peter Gruel († 1559) was initially a professor at the University of Greifswald and later a councilor, then mayor of Greifswald .

From 1559 Christoph Gruel was professor at the law faculty of the University of Greifswald. When the young Prince Ernst Ludwig von Pomerania studied at the university in 1560 and was honored with the appointment of rector for one year, Christoph Gruel was vice- rector under him. In 1575 Christoph Gruel himself became rector of the university for a year.

From 1561 onwards, Christoph Gruel was also City Syndic of Greifswald .

He probably died in 1596.
