Christoph Karczewski

Christoph Karczewski (born December 7, 1961 in Lich in Hessen ) is a German lawyer and a judge at the Federal Court of Justice since the beginning of 2010 .

Life

Karczewski received his doctorate in 1992 at the University of Hamburg on the subject of liability for shock damage - a comparative law study . He began his legal practice as a lawyer in Hamburg after completing his legal training . After working as a lawyer for two years, he began his judicial career in 1994 as a probationary judge at the Lüneburg Regional Court . He was still employed at the district courts of Winsen (Luhe) and Soltau and the public prosecutor's office in Lüneburg . After the probationary period in 1997, he was appointed judge at the Lüneburg Regional Court. From 1999 to 2002 he was seconded to the Federal Court of Justice as a research assistant . During that time he was appointed judge at the Higher Regional Court in Celle , where he continued his judicial activity after the end of the secondment until he was appointed judge at the Federal Court of Justice on January 1, 2010. At the Higher Regional Court in Celle he was a member of the 8th civil senate dealing with insurance law. At the Federal Court of Justice he was assigned to the IV Civil Senate of the Federal Court of Justice , which is responsible for insurance law and inheritance law .
