Christoph Möller (born March 1, 1989 ) is a German music critic and radio journalist from Schieder-Schwalenberg near Detmold .

education

After graduating from high school, Christoph Möller worked for the Hamburg internet radio station ByteFM and independently looked after the broadcasting studio for RUHR.2010 - European Capital of Culture in Bochum.

From 2012 to 2015 he studied cultural studies and aesthetic practice with a focus on literature and media at the University of Hildesheim Foundation . There, under the direction of the literary scholar and former radio editor Guido Graf, as editor of the literary platform Litradio.net, he improved his skills in the craft of radio features and cultural reporting on the radio. He completed his bachelor's degree with a thesis under the supervision of Johannes Ismaiel-Wendt.

His training as a music critic ended with an internship at Bayerischer Rundfunk in 2016.

Christoph Möller criticizes concerts in discussions with colleagues live on air, produces articles on general developments in pop music, individual artists and in his reviews mainly discusses newly released music albums and singles. In particular, he works as a music critic for the music program Tonart at Deutschlandfunk Kultur. In addition, the public broadcasters Deutschlandfunk, Deutschlandfunk Nova , WDR 5, RBB and Bayern 2 are among his clients. His reviews and his main musical focus as a cultural journalist concentrate primarily on contemporary pop music, whereby he is just as interested in megastars and the mainstream as he is in lesser-known musicians and in the social and cultural-political dimensions of pop music and music journalism. His reporting also extends to experimental music from AI , heavy metal to German rap .

In addition, he produces articles on the topics of internet and music streaming, media and podcasts, trends, theater and society.

He has been producing the weekly program Popschutz for the Internet broadcaster ByteFM since 2012, which is broadcast on Tuesdays from 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. In this author's program he plays new pop music, ambient, hip-hop, RnB and contemporary electronic music every week .

Christoph Möller has also been working as a freelance editor for Tonart since 2018.

Life

Christoph Möller lives and works in Berlin and Leipzig. He is in a relationship with a photographer and has no children.

With his contribution How musical is artificial intelligence? For WDR 5 , Christoph Möller was nominated for the Music Journalism Award at the Reeperbahn Festival 2019 in the category Best Music Journalism of the Year, Audio, German category.
