Christoph Joachim Müller-Meinhard (born March 29, 1964 in Cuxhaven ) is a Flotilla Admiral of the German Navy and Head of Budget and Controlling II in the Federal Ministry of Defense in Bonn .

Military career

Training and first uses

Christoph Müller-Meinhard joined the German Navy in 1984 . As an officer candidate for Crew VII / 84 , he began his training as a naval officer . From 1985 to 1988 he studied economics and organization at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg . This was followed by training and deployment in the area of ​​the destroyer flotilla . In 1990 Müller-Meinhard was deck officer of the frigate Cologne . After completing the B course (operation), from 1992 to 1996 he had various assignments on the frigates Lübeck (October 1992 to September 1993 1st command and weapons officer), Rhineland-Palatinate (April 1994 to March 1995 nautical officer) and Bavaria (July 1995 until June 1996 first ship operations officer). Service as a staff officer

From 1998 to 2001, Müller-Meinhard served as Deputy Naval Attaché at the German Embassy in London. He then took over the post of first officer on the frigate Lübeck . From 2003 to 2005 he was employed as a consultant in the Federal Ministry of Defense (naval command staff) in Bonn . In his next role, he took over the Lower Saxony frigate as commander from 2005 to 2007 . Then he was a consultant in the planning staff of the Federal Ministry of Defense in the area responsible for personnel, training and internal management. In 2009, Müller-Meinhard became the commander of the 4th frigate squadron.

Service as an admiral

In March 2015, Müller-Meinhard became the commander of the Flotilla 2 in Wilhelmshaven. On this post he was also promoted to flotilla admiral. From July 2015 to January 2016 he was Deputy Operation Commander of the EU Naval Force Somalia ( Operation Atalanta .) On June 29, 2018, he handed over his position as commander of the Flotilla 2 to Captain Ralf Kuchler . Müller-Meinhard himself became the successor of Brigadier General Jörg Lebert , Head of Budget and Controlling II in the Federal Ministry of Defense, based in Bonn , on June 1, 2018 .
