Jörg Lebert

Joerg Lebert (* 1960 ) is a Major General of the Air Force of the Armed Forces and the Commander of the NATO Airborne Early Warning & Control Force in Geilenkirchen .

Military career

Training and first uses

After joining the German Armed Forces, Lebert completed his training as an Air Force officer at the Air Force officers' school in Fürstenfeldbruck as well as aviation training in the 4th squadron of Lufttransportgeschwader 62 (LTG 62), which is affiliated with the Lufthansa Commercial Aviation School in Bremen . After that he was used in aviation assignments, as an operational pilot and flight instructor on the flight types C-160 Transall and C-130 Hercules . From 1991 to 1994 Lebert was squadron commander of the 3rd flying squadron of the Air Transport Wing 62 in Wunstorf . From 1994 to 1996 he then took part in the general staff course at the command academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg .

Service as a staff officer

After training to complete the general staff officer Lebert 1996 became the Air Transport Command to Munster added. As a staff officer, he was responsible for planning and regulations, strategic orientation, exercises and standardization . From 1998 to 2000 he was used again in Lufttransportgeschwader 62, this time as commander of the flying group . Service as a general

From 2012 to 2014 Lebert was promoted to Brigadier General , Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the European Air Transport Command in Eindhoven (Netherlands). From 2014 to 2016 he was employed as Head of Development and Planning in the Air Force Command in Berlin-Gatow . He handed over this post to Brigadier General Jan Kuebart . For Lebert, a ministerial assignment from 2016 to 2018 followed as a subdivision head Budget and Controlling II in the Federal Ministry of Defense , based in Bonn. Flotilla Admiral Christoph Müller-Meinhard followed him on this post . Lebert, while being promoted to major general, took up his current post as commander of the NATO Airborne Early Warning & Control Force in Geilenkirchen on July 20, 2018.
