Presence and training trip to the Indo-Pacific

From August 2021 to February 2022, the frigate Bavaria is conducting a presence and training voyage to the Indo-Pacific , which is the first aspect of a new German foreign policy in this region of the world that is attracting great media attention. The warship will be in the sea area between the Horn of Africa, Australia and Japan. The inspector of the navy , Vice Admiral Kay-Achim Schönbach , said that the voyage of the frigate Bavaria should underline, among other things, that Germany, on the side of its international value partners, advocates freedom of sea routes and compliance with international law in the region. The contract also includes participation in monitoring measures for UN sanctions against North Korea, participation in international exercises and performing representational tasks.
