Christoph Rose (born May 27, 1630 - October 31, 1675 ) was a German bell founder . He ran his bell foundry in Volkstedt .

Life and work

How Christoph Rose became a bell founder and when he opened his company is not known. The rose bell foundry is said to have been located near the church and cemetery. At that time it was also customary to cast large bells at their future destinations, for example to avoid transport problems. Between 1645 and 1674, twelve places are known where Christoph Rose's bells hung.

Son Johann Rose continued to run the bell foundry founded by his father after his death, followed by his youngest son Johann Wolfgang Rose (1699–1750). With the Rose bell foundry in Apolda from 1722, the grandsons Johann Christoph Rose and Martin Rose laid the foundation stone for the almost three centuries of bell foundry tradition in Apolda .
