Christoph Schranz (born April 23, 1993 ) is an Austrian grass skier . He starts for SC Elsbethen and is a member of the junior team of the Austrian Ski Association .

Career

Schranz has been taking part in FIS and World Cup races since 2009 . On June 5th he drove his first FIS race in Wilhelmsburg , a Super-G which he finished in 29th place. The next day he competed in his first World Cup race. In this super combination, he finished 25th and thus won his first World Cup points. A few months later he also took part in the 2009 World Championships in Rettenbach . He finished 29th in the super combined. At the 2010 Junior World Championships in Dizin he was tenth in giant slalom, eleventh in slalom and 18th in super-G; he didn't finish in the super combination.

On July 3, 2011, Schranz was 15th in the super combination of Olešnice v Orlických horách for the first time among the fastest 20 in a World Cup race. The best result of the season was the 13th place in the slalom of Předklášteří on August 7th. In the overall World Cup, he finished 28th in the 2011 season . At the Junior World Championships 2011 in Goldingen he was fourth in the Super-G, fifth in slalom and combined, and ninth in giant slalom. In his two starts at the World Championship in the General Class, which was held at the same time , he achieved placements in midfield as 16th in the giant slalom and 24th in the Super-G.

In the 2012 season , Schranz achieved his first top 10 results in World Cup races by finishing ninth in the giant slalom in San Sicario and eighth in the second Super-G in Dizin. In the overall World Cup ranking he improved to 22nd place. At the Junior World Championships 2012 in Burbach , Schranz's best result was eighth place in the giant slalom. In the 2013 season , Schranz achieved the best result of his career to date with two silver medals in giant slalom and slalom at the 2013 Junior World Championship in Rettenbach . He also achieved a top 10 result in the World Cup with eighth place in the giant slalom in Marbachegg. This enabled him to move up to 15th place in the overall World Cup ranking.
