Christoph Siegfried Herrmann

Christoph Siegfried Herrmann (born August 20, 1966 in Celle ) is an engineer and professor of psychology .

Life

The son of the linguist Wolfgang Siegfried Herrmann studied from 1986 to 1996 at the Technical University of Darmstadt , at the College of New Jersey and at the University of Mainz . In 1996 he was with the work A hybrid AI system for medical diagnosis at Darmstadt Technical University doctorate . After postdoc at the Hokkaido University , the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences in Leipzig and the University of California, Berkeley , he worked at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg from 2001 to 2009 . In 2002 he completed his habilitation in psychology with the thesis The meaning of 40 Hz oscillations for cognitive processes at the University of Leipzig . From 2003 on he was professor for biological psychology in Magdeburg. Since October 2009 he has been Professor of General Psychology at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg .

One focus of his research is research into EEG gamma activity. Further areas of work are visual and auditory perception as well as questions of free will and consciousness .
