Christoph Vilanek (born January 31, 1968 in Innsbruck , Austria ) is an Austrian manager. He has been CEO of freenet AG since April 7, 2009 .

Life

After completing his business studies at the Leopold Franzens University in Innsbruck , Christoph Vilanek began his professional career at the Time-Life International publishing house . Before moving to the online fashion retailer boo.com as managing director , he held various positions in the mail order business.

In 2001, the native Austrian moved to the McKinsey management consultancy , where he was mainly responsible for telecommunications in Germany and Eastern Europe. In 2004 he became the second managing director at iPublish, a subsidiary of the Hamburg-based Ganske publishing group .

Before being appointed CEO of freenet AG, Vilanek held various positions in customer communication, development, support and loyalty at Debitel AG in Stuttgart from 2005 to 2009 . At freenet AG, Vilanek is responsible for the change to a "digital lifestyle provider". and the strategic development of the television market

Vilanek has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Ströer Media since 2014 .

Vilanek is married and has two children. He lives in Hamburg .
