Ulf Kahmke

Ulf Kahmke (born July 16, 1966 in Eutin ) is a German sports journalist and former handball player .

Career

Kahmke began playing handball at TS Riemann Eutin and moved to the Bundesliga team THW Kiel in 1985 . There, however, he did not appear in the Bundesliga due to a serious knee injury and had to end his handball career early. From 1990 he studied sports economics at the University of Bayreuth and emigrated to Australia with his wife in 1997, after he had already gained his first experience at the Hessischer Rundfunk . From there he reported in the following years for ARD and ZDF, for example on the Australian Open and the 2000 Summer Olympics .

The Schleswig-Holsteiner became known in particular as a handball commentator. After returning from Australia in 2001, he worked for Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk and commented on the final of the EHF Champions League 2000/01 between SC Magdeburg and KC Veszprém . At Eurosport he was also used as a commentator for the Handball Champions League from 2009 and also reported on the 2009 Women's Handball World Championship .

Private

Ulf Kahmke was born with the former handball player Lydia. Wesche married, with whom he has two children and lives in the Eutin district of Fissau. His sister Michaela is also a journalist.
