Christoph Werner (writer)

Christoph Werner (* 1939 in Halle an der Saale ) is a German writer , literary scholar , language teacher and specialist translator .

After graduating from high school in 1957, he studied English and German at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg . After working as an English teacher at the Extended High School in Pößneck in Thuringia for two years, he was a university teacher or lecturer at the Technical University of Leuna-Merseburg from 1964 to 1984 . During this time he began writing stories that went unpublished. His linguistic activity was reflected in several publications on the English technical language of process engineering .

In 1973 received his doctorate he at the Faculty of Martin Luther University with a thesis on the English writer Howard Spring Dr. phil. From 1984 to 1989 he worked as a freelance translator and language teacher. In 1989 he moved to the Federal Republic of Germany. From 1990 to 2002 he worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Applied Linguistics at the University of Hildesheim . His main areas of work were technical translation as well as the English language and its didactics .

During his time in Hildesheim, Christoph Werner published his first book "The Bronstein Defect and Other Stories". He also wrote numerous stories for “Literamus”, the literary magazine of the Wissenschaftlicher Verlag Trier.

Christoph Werner has three daughters and lives in Weimar today .
