Christoph Ziemssen

Christoph Ziemssen (born April 23, 1791 in Greifswald , † November 18, 1868 in Stralsund ) was a German Lutheran theologian and Pomeranian church historian .

Live and act

Christoph Ziemssen was the youngest son of the general superintendent Johann Christoph Ziemssen . After attending grammar school, Ziemssen studied in Greifswald and was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD . Then he attended the University of Heidelberg , where he met Carl Daub and Friedrich Creuzer .

After returning to Greifswald, he qualified as a private lecturer in the theological and philosophical faculties in 1814. In 1817 Ziemssen went to Stralsund and in the following year became pastor of St. Marien and assessor of the municipal consistory. In 1842 he was elected city superintendent in Stralsund.
