Christoph von Bernuth

Christoph von Bernuth (* 1968 in Rochester Minnesota , USA ) is a German opera director .

Bernuth was born the son of the doctor Götz von Bernuth and received his training as an assistant to numerous directors in music theater, including Willy Decker , Jens-Daniel Herzog , Peter Konwitschny , Barrie Kosky , Nikolaus Lehnhoff , Christof Nel , Vera Nemirova and George Tabori . From 1997 to 2009 he headed the scenic area of ​​the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music under René Jacobs . Between 2000 and 2005 he was also the director of the Hamburg State Opera .

Bernuth has also worked at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence , the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden , the Theater Basel , the Semperoper and the Dresden Music Festival , the Cologne Opera , the Opéra de Lyon , the Teatro Real Madrid , the Scala in Milan , the Opéra de Montpellier , the Opéra National de Paris and the Schwetzingen Festival .
