Christophe Civeton

Christophe Civeton (* 1796 in Paris ; † around 1831) was a French draftsman, engraver and lithographer.

Little is known about the life story of Christophe Civeton. He was a student of Jean-Victor Bertin in landscape painting and Nicolas Ponce in engraving. Civeton became famous for his drawings of monuments and landscapes of Paris and its surroundings, which are of great documentary interest. The work Civetons were moved by François Louis Couché (1782-1849) and, for example, Jacques-Antoine Dulaure (1755-1835) for its de Histoire Paris and Description de Paris et de ses environs, ses Singularités historiques, etc. commissioned . The engravings were based on the works of various artists, such as Jean-François Millet and Georges Malbeste (1754–1843) for the steel engraving of the Tour de Guinette at Étampes Castle .

  • 24 perspective views of rooms and staircases of the “Musée royal du Louvre ” under Philippe Auguste , Charles V and in its current (then) condition. His designs were engraved by Hibon and Normand Sohn for the book by Charles Othon Frédéric Jean-Baptiste de Clarac (1777–1847) for the Royal Museum
