Eugénie Droz
Eugénie Droz (born March 21, 1893 in La Chaux-de-Fonds , † September 19, 1976 in Geneva ) was a Swiss Romance philologist and publisher based in Paris and Geneva.
life and work
Laure-Eugénie Zahn alias Eugénie Droz (from 1919, after the maiden name of her mother) was the daughter of the publisher Friedrich Zahn (1857-1919). She studied in Neuchâtel with Arthur Piaget and in Paris at the École pratique des hautes études (1916–1923). She did her PhD in Neuchâtel with the thesis Le recueil Trepperel. 1. Les sotties (Paris 1935, 1974). In 1924 she founded the publishing bookstore 'Librairie Droz' in Paris, which she moved to Geneva in 1947 and ran until 1963. In 1934 she founded the journal Humanisme et Renaissance (later Bibliothèque d'Humanisme et Renaissance ) with Abel Lefranc and in 1950 the series Travaux d'Humanisme et Renaissance .
Eugénie Droz was an honorary doctor from the Universities of Lausanne, Cologne and Freiburg.
