Christopher Bartsch (born August 6, 1979 in Hamburg ) is a German curler .

Career

Bartsch took part in Junior World Championships three times between 1997 and 2001 , his best result being fourth in 1998. In the following seasons, the team of the Curling Club Hamburg , to which Bartsch belonged, failed to qualify for international tournaments. There Germany was mostly represented by the CC Füssen around the skip Andreas Kapp . When he resigned from curling after the 2011 World Cup, the CC Hamburg filled the gap: The team led by John Jahr , which, in addition to Bartsch, consisted of Felix Schulze , Peter Rickmers and Sven Goldemann , qualified for the 2011 European Championships and finished seventh there .

In 2012, the internal qualification for the European Championship did not succeed , instead the new Füssen team started around Andreas Lang , but was relegated to the B group as the penultimate of the EM. In order to still have the opportunity to start at the 2014 Olympics , the CC Hamburg first had to win the B-European Championship in winter 2013/14 and then compete in a qualifying tournament in Füssen in mid-December 2013. In this tournament, the Hamburg team lost the first two games, but then won the remaining six matches, including the finals, and thus qualified for the Winter Games in Sochi . There Bartsch played with Jahr, Schulze and Goldemann. The team could only win one of their nine games and came in tenth and last place. At the 2014 World Cup , he came in eighth.

Private life

In addition to curling, which Bartsch does as an amateur, the man from Hamburg works in a men's fashion store. He also comments on curling games on the sports channel Eurosport together with Ulrich Kapp and Daniel Herberg . Bartsch is married and has one son.
