Christopher Handke (born February 14, 1989 in Bad Frankenhausen ) is a former German soccer player . He is currently still working as an amateur and also a junior coach . He currently looks after the A-Juniors of 1. FC Magdeburg as head coach and plays for the regional division Ummendorfer SV.
Career
As a player
Handke went through the junior teams of the Rot-Weiß Erfurt and reached 9th place in the U-19 Bundesliga with the A-youth in the 2007/08 season . In the following season he was a regular in the second team. He made his professional debut on matchday 25 of the 2008/09 season against SC Paderborn 07 . In the 2010/11 season , the central defender was part of the first team's squad. Nevertheless, he decided to move in the summer of 2011 and went to the regional league for VfB Germania Halberstadt .
For the 2013/14 season Handke moved to 1. FC Magdeburg on a free transfer .
On May 31, 2015, as part of the team, he made it to the third division in the second leg of the relegation against Kickers Offenbach . In the third division team, Handke remained a regular player with a total of 95 point games in the three third division seasons from 2015-2018. In the 2017/18 season, Handke was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga with 1. FC Magdeburg. In the second division 2018/19 season , he only played seven games in the first half of the season.
In the summer of 2019, after his contract ended in Magdeburg, the defender moved to FSV Zwickau , where he played until the end of the 2019/20 season and finally ended his professional career.
For one season, the defender applied for a license to play as an amateur for the state division club SV Ummendorf.
As a trainer
For the 2020/21 season , Handke became head coach of the U19 Bundesliga team of his former employer 1. FC Magdeburg. He exercises this position parallel to his involvement as an amateur player.
