Christopher Malcolm

Christopher Malcolm (born August 19, 1946 in Aberdeen , † February 15, 2014 in London ) was a British actor and theater producer.

Life

Malcolm's family emigrated to British Columbia in the late 1940s , where he attended the university there after attending school and studied acting. From 1966 to 1968 his first position as an actor was the Royal Shakespeare Company , with whom he appeared in Great Britain. From the 1970s, the beefy actor with the distinctive chin commuted between the stage, television and film. An important role was that of the "Brad Major" in the original production of the Rocky Horror Show . For the cinema he played small roles in several successful films such as Highlander - There Can Only Be One , Ragtime and Star Wars Episode V. From the mid-1980s, he reduced his appearances significantly.

In 1978 Malcolm first appeared as a producer when he oversaw the musical Pal Joey , which was also performed at the West End two years later . In 1981 his production of Steaming won the Best Comedy Award. After further works, a new production of the Rocky Horror Show premiered at the Piccadilly Theater in 1990 , which was successfully played for ten years and four national tours. Then it was performed on Broadway and received a Tony Award .

Malcolm also gained notoriety from 1992 through his appearances as Saffron Monsoon's father Justin in the hit BBC sitcom Absolutely Fabulous . He last played the role of Justin in 2011.

His last work was a new production of Oh! What a Lovely War in Stratford East.
