Christopher Tostrup pause
Christopher Tostrup Paus (born September 10, 1862 in Christiania , Norway ; † September 10, 1943 in Skodsborg , Denmark ) (also: de Paus ) was a Norwegian papal chamberlain , count , landowner , philanthropist , art collector and one of the main heirs of the Tostrup timber company & Mathiesen, one of Norway's largest companies. After his conversion to the Catholic Church, he was taken over by Pope Benedict XV.appointed as secret chamberlain with sword and cloak ( Cameriere Segreto di Spada e Cappa ) and by Popes Pius XI. and Pius XII. reappointed. He was in 1923 by Pius XI. raised to the rank of count. He lived partly in Rome and partly in Sweden and Denmark, where he owned the Trystorp and Herresta estates and the Magleås manor . He is buried on Vår Frelsers Gravlund .
He belonged to the Paus patrician family . His father, major and war commissioner Johan Altenborg Paus (1833-1894), was cousin Henrik Ibsen .
