Vår Frelsers Gravlund (Our Savior's Cemetery Grove) is a cemetery in central Oslo , Norway . It was laid out in 1808 after a great famine as a result of the Napoleonic Wars and a cholera epidemic broke out. As early as the 19th century, Vår Frelsers Gravlund became the cemetery for the city's upper class. In 1952 the cemetery was closed. The cemetery gathers the graves of many prominent figures from recent Norwegian history. Part of the cemetery is called Æreslunden (honor grove ).
