Emil Stang
Emil Stang (born June 14, 1834 in Christiania ; † July 4, 1912 ibid) was a Norwegian conservative politician and lawyer . He was the first chairman of the conservative Høyre party and Prime Minister of Norway from 1889 to 1891 and again from 1893 to 1895.
He sat from 1883 to 1894 and again from 1898 to 1900 as a member of the Norwegian Parliament in Storting . Parliament already declared its distrust when Stang took up his second government. Although the parliamentary majority principle had been established in 1884, he and his ministers remained in office for two and a half years.
Stang was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Saint Olav in 1890 . He also received the Grand Cross of the North Star Order and the Order of the Red Eagle .
His sons were Emil Stang and Fredrik Stang .
