Christophorus window in Guern

The Christopher window in the Catholic Basilica of Our Lady of Quelven, a district of the French community Guern in the Morbihan department in the region Brittany , was created in the 15th century. The stained glass window was added to the list of architectural monuments in France in 1840 as Monument historique .

The window with the representation of St. Christopher is about 80 cm high and about 50 cm wide. It was created by an unknown workshop. Christophorus carries the baby Jesus on his shoulders through the water. The blond-haired child holds a globe in his left hand. Christophorus supports himself with his right hand on a flowering stick, which, according to legend, he planted on the other bank, where the tree trunk then turned green again.

In addition to the Christophorus window , the root Jesse window from the Gothic period has been preserved in the church.
